Wedding Wednesday - V. XII

I know I missed last weeks WW post, and I have no excuses, but I apologize! soooo, here we are again with another post in which I publish my wedding pictures with no regret or shame whatsoever. if you'd like to be nosy, and see past WW posts, click here.

just in case you weren't aware... I did a "perfect pair" theme with our wedding. if you can't tell, I love a play on words; hence the name of this here blog. I didn't want to have pears everywhere, and have a big pear cheese fest, so instead I came up with little creative ways to incorporate pears without being overbearing about it. there are TONS of pear wedding accessories on the internet, but I wanted to stay away from the corporate world of wedding, and make it more interesting... more fresh... more US.

we included a pear graphic on all of our wedding stationery, including our invitations, our menu cards, and our programs. you can see all our paper products in this past issue of WW. instead of having cheesy little pear favors, I decided to order fresh pears and use them for escort cards, as well as favors (we also made a donation to the American Cancer Society in lieu of trinket favors). we showcased a pear flavored signature drink... it was a huge hit! I ran with our pear green color, and added chocolate brown and ivory as accent colors, and I have to say... it was beautiful.

so without further adieu, here are some pictures of our pear details... along with some that feature our color scheme. I loved the planning process, and finding the perfect details to coordinate with our theme and colors - even if no one noticed all my hard work, it still paid off in the end.

as always, all photos are credited to the lovely and talented Jen, from JLowe Photos. if you'd like to see more of her work, feel free to visit her blog here.

PS - see those name tags attached to the pears? I handmade every.single.fucking.one of those. thank god for the Fiskar's paper cutter and some cheap scrapbook paper!

Happy Wednesday, loves!

Wedding Wednesday - V. XI

welcome back, bitches, to another episode of Wedding Wednesday here at TBNT. if you'd like to see past installments of WW, click here! sooner or later, I'm going to run out of wedding pictures to post here! hopefully it's later, and not sooner.

I still plan on posting pictures today, but I thought it would be interesting to give you some of the details of the wedding. okay, not so much the "details," but the little mishaps and funnies that occurred throughout the day. there are some things that were said and done on our wedding day that I'll never forget... whether they just made me smile, made me feel good, or made me laugh til my stomach hurt.

as always, all photos are credited to the lovely and talented Jen, from JLowe Photos. If you'd like to see more of her work, feel free to visit her blog here.

1. I've explained before that I constructed our vows from the huge PDF file from our officiant. the one thing that not a lot of people know though, is that as we were standing up there in front of all our family & friends, ready to proclaim our forever love to one another and blah blah blah blah, Mr. FoFandee whispered to me... "you can still run, ya know... this is pretty much your last chance." I thought it was hysterical, and it took everything I had in me to keep from busting out laughing.

2. ALSO during our ceremony, I put his ring on before the officiant instructed me to do so. that's what all this laughter's about.

3. I had to drink a couple of our signature drinks in order to calm me down before walking down the aisle. I wasn't nervous, but I was having pretty bad anxiety about the whole sitch. obviously, the drinks worked. plus, it was hot as all hell and I was sweating my ass off, which only lead to further bridezillaism. note: this picture was not taken by my photographer. and I actually wasn't a bridezilla at ALL... but this pictures doesn't exactly represent that. ;)

4. my dad is hilarious.

5. while we were walking to take pictures, the ankle strap on my shoes broke. my day-of-coordinator had them sewn back together in a matter of 30 minutes. all of my pictures with my bridal party were taken barefoot. :) FYI, my day-of-coordinator was the BEST vendor I spent money on.

6. during our first dance, I was terrified that I was going to step on my dress and fall on my face. I kept telling the Mister to hold me up just in case. at one point, I DID step on my dress, and I was almost a goner, but I caught myself. whew! this is the "oh shit, I just almost face planted" face.

7. Mr. FoFandee's best man, Bill, rapped "Ice Ice Baby" at the beginning of our reception. it was one of the best things I've ever seen in my life. aaand I danced around him... like a stripper. and it was a fucking blast. I think everyone will always remember that about our wedding night.

8. my friend Kaycie requested a song from the DJ, and had it dedicated to me. it was "Fat Bottomed Girls" by Queen. clearly, I have awesome friends, and that made my night.

obviously, there are many more things that happened that I'll always remember about our wedding day, but those are the ones that stick out most to me, and make me smile. I hope everyone is having a pleasant week, and that you're enjoying gorgeous weather like we are here in Maryland!

Wedding Wednesday - V. X

I hope I'm getting these roman numerals right, or I'm just going to look like a giant douchebag... nothing new there! anywhozits, welcome back to Wedding Wednesday, folks, where I shamelessly post some fab pictures from my wedding and you get to tell me how pretty I am. don't you love how it works out that way? if you'd like to be nosy and see past installments of WW, feel free to click right on over here.

as of today, we are one month and one day away from our 2 year "engage-iversary"... otherwise known as the day we got engaged. I know, I know, that was hard to figure out. soooo, in celebration of having this gorgeous rock on my finger for almost 2 years, I'm going to post pictures of it... professional pictures that is... and I may or may not just break the rules and post some pictures of our rings on the beaches of Hawaii from our honeymoon. maybe.

first, I should probably explain the rings. when Mr. FoFandee proposed to me (over Five Guys Burgers & Fries and the TV in the background... he's such a romantic), he gave me a princess cut solitaire ring. I loved it. love, love, LOVED it. and then somewhere along the wedding planning process, I decided that I wanted a solitaire enhancer as my wedding band... so I got it.

and THEN, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that the enhancer just made it look like I had a gigantic engagement ring. I told the Mister I'd like to get a new band, and I'd return the original enhancer... I just didn't want it to look like I was only engaged... I wanted my jewelry to show that I was married... get what I'm sayin? so in the end, he told me to keep the enhancer and get the other wedding band as well... which is exactly what I did. for reference, here's a picture of my original engagement ring (from our engagement session, also taken by the lovely Jen Lowe.

and here are the ones I took on our honeymoon:

yep, that's it. I think that's all the pictures I got of our rings. somehow I thought there were more. oh well.

I'm hoping to have some time at work today to update you guys on our kitchen! we finally had our contractor come out and quote us for removing, leveling, and replacing the floors, and they showed up yesterday morning to start working! right now my kitchen is a big gaping hole, but I can't wait to see when it's done!

OH, and since the Caps decided to take it all the way to game 7, we bought tickets to wish them a little luck. so tonight, I'll be rockin' the red and cheerin' on my boys to take the first round!

Happy Wednesday!

Wedding Wednesday - V. III

Lookie here, I'm actually posting WW on time this week! Score! Since my birthday was this week, I'm going to celebrate by posting pictures of our cake!

If you'd like to see past installments of WW, click here.

We had a family friend make our cake for us, and not only was it beautiful to look at, it was delicious! She really made my vision for the cake come alive, and I was SO happy with how it looked - it was exactly as I pictured it would be! We alternated flavors within the layers - the bottom layer was lemon cake with vanilla butter cream, the second layer was "orange dreamsicle" (orange cake with vanilla butter cream), the third layer was another layer of the lemon and the top was red velvet. I wanted to keep the flavors light and airy due to the heat of our August wedding, and I was so pleased with how it worked out. We saved the top tier (the red velvet) for our first anniversary, and it is currently taking up space in the husband's parent's freezer.

We had decided long before the wedding that we would ABSOLUTELY be smashing cake into each others' faces. There's just no way we could be nice when there's an anticipiated food fight involved. Mission accomplished. :)

speaking of cake... I have some leftover Banana Creme Cheesecake leftover sitting in my work fridge right now. I might have to dig into that later.

Happy Wednesday, folks!

Wedding Wednesday - V. VII

holy shit, I totally forgot about Wedding Wednesday yesterday. sorry guys! I'm telling you - work has been insanely busy lately! I can't believe it slipped my mind so easily. if you're just tuning in and would like to see all past editions of WW, click here.

to celebrate St. Patrick's Day this week, this installment of WW will feature some pictures from our wedding in which alcohol is involved. there were gallons of drink consumed at our wedding, and there are quite a few pictures to prove it!

we had an open bar at our wedding, offering beer, mixed drinks, and wine. we also provided a signature cocktail, called the Pear Sizzle (to go along with our "Perfect Pair" theme). it was a HUGE hit, and soooo delicious. I'm pretty sure I had about 20 of them. if you're interested in trying it, you can find the recipe (and other tasty pear vodka infused beverages) here... but I'll list it below for you lazy asses who don't like to click links. it's the perfect summer drink - it's fruity and refreshing!

Pear Sizzle

  • 3 parts pear vodka
  • 1 part lime juice
  • lemon-lime soda

Fill a highball glass to the rim with ice cubes. Pour pear vodka and lime juice into a shaker. Fill the shaker with ice cubes and shake until very cold, straining into the highball glass. Top off with lemon-lime soda. Garnish with a mint leaf and a pear slice.

[this is my all time favorite picture from our reception!]

I hope everyone is having a good Thursday! I'm so ready for this weekend to be here already. I'm celebrating my 24th birthday Saturday evening at a karaoke bar with some friends! Copious drinks are much needed after the last couple weeks!
