Matt Kincaid, chose not to follow his family heritage. His thoughts changed when, Patsy, his choice of bride, disrespects his wishes. Hoping to save the relationship, he acknowledges the family's wisdom in handling such matters. Will she understand his need for control? Patsy, young and innocent in the ways of the world. She just wants a wedding the same as every young woman. Even she was not sure how it managed to get out of control. Now chastised and in the arms of the man she once worshiped, she learns complete submission is the only way she will regain his trust. To stay with him she must except a life very different from the one she imagined. How did you get into writing? Was it something you always wanted to do or did you wake up one day and think "I want to write a book?"
I woke up one day about a year ago and decided I want to write a book. "Ha Ha" then I learned I don't know how to write a book. Tenses--yes I was tense and told they didn't match. But, the reader meant verb tenses, Mmm. And ...Why Can't I put a Comma there--That's where I want it. Rules there are grammar rules? And with that my education to be a writer began.
Many up and coming writers have trouble picking what publisher is right for them. How did you know you were working with the right publisher?
They accepted my manuscript... Actually, after I realized this isn't as easy I thought. I did my homework and researched publishers. What they published, who they published and learned their patterns. Then, I wrote a story with a particular publisher in mind. I was bouncing off the walls when they accepted it- 48 hours later.
Do you consider yourself a planner or do your books flow effortlessly from your mind?
My stories flow from my mind ( not a pretty place). However, there is nothing effortless about it. I have bits and pieces down in my head, then have to find a way to move through them with ease. There are time when the characters go on their own rampage. Sometimes they do good, and other times I need to drag them back.
This is my favourite question. How did it feel to see your first cover for the very first time?
The first cover from my publisher Sizzler Editions was a shocker to me. But after I looked at it as a customer, I saw it gave subtle hints about the story and realized it was the right cover. Then I was able to have fun with it..
What would you say the best parts of being an author is?
Knowing someone liked what you created and was willing to pay money for it. The highs: getting a publisher, seeing the book released, the first sale and each & every sale after that.
What would you say is the hardest thing about being an author?
For me it is my genre at this time, erotica. I have personal reasons for using a penn name. So, I can't always share my excitement with everyone I'd like too. For example this interview. Just being asked to be involved in this by you, is one those exciting things to happen to me. I rely on my author groups to fill in the void and they do a great job.
Charles Kincaid is man who was raised to believe women should know their place. It's a man's responsibility to teach them and at times give discipline as reminders when necessary. Today's stage will bring him in contact with Penelope Carson. Never being told no he sets his sights on her. He takes her to his remote cabin. It is here he begins her lessons. His greatest daydream is to have his name on her lips as she responds in passion to his control of her body. She begs for a chance to prove she will obey him without painful lessons. He watches with fascination as she tries to reconcile the fact she is now his body and soul. She being an innocent woman reacts the only way she can. In fear she continually tries to convince him that his heavy handed ways are not necessary to control her. He forces her to discover her own sexually and she learns to experience pleasure and learns that the power of returning that pleasure can give her. She will win some battles and lose some. With plans of someday escaping him she begins a campaign to push him to expand his trust of her. She gently pushes his rules a just smidgen over the lines he sets. Then using his sexual demands he has against him. The day will come when she has an opportunity to flee. Her attempt is unsuccessful. However, her attempt has made her face reality, that only she can decide if there will be any future happiness in her life with him. What advice would you give up and coming Authors trying to make it as writers?
If you choose to self-publish go for it. Be prepared to market market market. If you want to find a publisher do your research. Find your match then submit before sending it everywhere and get depressed by rejections. Then market- market- market-it is a must in this new ebook age.
If you could sum up your writing style in a three words what would they be?
I have a style? Thank you. NO, idea how to answer this one.
What can we expect from you in the future?
I'd love to say "Oh, next month my new" but I can't. I have been pushing (marketing) the two books I have out. Hopefully, the publisher will like the one I working on. It's a contemporary erotica romance about a hired assassin who decides not to kill his intended victim. He kidnaps her instead to learn more about why someone wants her dead. He decides to protect her and all the godstuff the happens between a man and woman.
What is your dream as an author? What would be the greatest achievement you hope to reach?
My first dream is to be able to pay the bills. What better way to live is there, than to enjoy what your doing and be paid for it.
Thank you for taking the time to sit down and chat with us. I wish you all the success in the world with your books. You can find The Kincaid Way at...
